Our Captain and Crew - Checkmate Sportfishing, Cabo San Lucas

CAPTAIN: CESAR BOBADILLA GAYTAN
Born and raised in Cabo San Lucas, English-speaking Captain Cesar is a young and energetic 25 year old who began his fishing career at the age of 15. His ten years' experience includes 6 years as a Deckhand and 4 years as a Captain. He's learned from some of the best fishermen in Baja and has been an active participant in many major tournaments in Cabo including the Bisbee's and WON Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot. While still a tournament Captain, Cesar prefers taking clients out in search of fish to catch and memories to make. Some say that if you were to cut Captain Cesar, he'd bleed saltwater. Others say he's part fish and if you look real close, you can see scales. All we know is he knows where to find the fish when, and what to do to catch 'em.

DECKMAN: JOSHUA BOBADILLA
Joshua is our English-speaking deckman and this 26 year old loves to fish. With four years of deck experience, Joshua is ready to wire a Marlin, gaff a Tuna and hoist a few Dorado into the coolers for you. Joshua's "fish fever" is contagious and when he's not helping our clients have successful days on the water, he's out fishing in local tournaments like the Copa Gobernador events, four years running. The Copa Gobernador tournaments take place up and down the coast of Southern Baja and expose competing anglers to a wide variety of fisheries and conditions.... all great stuff that Joshua brings back to the boat for our clients!

MANAGER: DANIEL BOBADILLA
While Cesar and Joshua take care of you on aboard Checkmate, not much would happen without the help of our manager, Daniel Bobadilla. Daniel too was born in Cabo, speaks good English and is the brains behind our little business. He's Law and Management School educated and while not a Captain, he's an adept Deckman and angler with a fair share of tournament fishing under his belt. Daniel is your point of contact in Cabo San Lucas and will be meeting you at the docks the morning of your charter.
